What happens if the receiver refuses to pay Customs duties?

What happens if the receiver refuses to pay Customs duties?

If the receiver declines to pay Customs charges, you can choose one of the following options:

  1. Pay the duties yourself

    • Contact us to arrange payment reversal

    • You’ll need to pay the charges in advance

    • A £25 + VAT administration fee applies

  2. Have the package returned

    • Return shipping costs will apply

    • Customs may also charge a handling fee for releasing the parcel back to the sender

  3. Abandon the shipment

    • This is not recommended, as the parcel will likely be destroyed by Customs and cannot be recovered

To avoid this situation, always let your recipient know they may need to pay import fees before the parcel is released for delivery.
