Can I ship lithium batteries?
You can ship lithium batteries, but there are rules for doing so:
Batteries have to remain inside the device they’re used for – they can’t be sent separately
Each package can have a maximum of two lithium batteries
Lithium batteries are vulnerable to fire, so it’s vital to keep them from overheating. Ensure your device is off and cannot be turned back on in transit.
Always ship your device inside a plastic bag. This prevents static interference and helps protect against fire.
Follow IATA regulations when packaging your device. Don’t pack lithium batteries near metal goods. Place electrical tape on all terminals to prevent overheating.
Check local regulations before sending lithium batteries overseas.
Note: Though shipping lithium batteries is allowed, shipping faulty batteries is a crime.
